Christmas Time at ITL!

I’m Emily the new Graduate Marketing Assistant at ITL. I’ve been working here just over a month now and I’m progressively learning all the different aspects of the company’s marketing activities. I’m excited to start 2017 with lots of exhibitions and shows coming up, I know I’m going to be kept busy!

This is my first job since University and I’m really enjoying it. With Christmas only around the corner, I seem to have joined the company at a great time with everyone in the festive spirit and lots of chocolate in the office! I’ve been made to feel really welcome and the Christmas activities have been a great way to meet my new colleagues in a more informal setting. I joined the annual Christmas lunch and even got a last-minute place on the work’s Christmas Doo which was lucky.

December is a busy time for the marketing department but the month has been crammed full of fun Christmas events for the team. In my second week, I was lucky enough to go to our Christmas works night out at Oldham Events Centre. It was a shared event but with 70 people from ITL we accounted for more than a third of the event. I got handed champagne on arrival while the singer sang Christmas songs. We sat down and enjoyed a three course meal then danced the night away. I was able to meet lots of colleagues in a social environment and overall, the evening was a success, with our tummy’s full of roast dinner and mulled wine in the air!

The second week in December was wrapped up with the annual Christmas dinner at our Head Office in Oldham. This took place in our new canteen whereby we had caterers cook 150 Christmas dinners for all employees. The day was full of festive cheer with Mariah Carey on repeat and I really enjoyed having lunch with everyone.

The 16th of December was Christmas jumper day! Lots of staff wore their best Santa, reindeer and snowman jumpers and it seems to be an ingrained day in the ITL calendar – all in the name of Christmas. Some staff have been wearing their Christmas jumpers every Friday since the beginning of December, really getting into the festive spirit.

Secret Santa meant Christmas came early last week. As I have only recently joined the company I was too late to join this year, but it looked like great fun and hopefully next year I will be able to get involved. Everyone spent the rest of the day trying to guess who their secret Santa was!

I really have joined the company at a good time – Christmas Jumpers, Lunch and a big night out – all in my first month. The company closes on the 23rd December giving everyone a well-deserved rest over Christmas and I’m already looking forward to what 2017 will bring for me.
